I’m not lying – we get at least one comment every day about his eyelashes. The older ladies at the grocery store say that he must be a boy because boys are blessed with the eyelashes. The younger gals at daycare remind me often of how much trouble he’ll be as a teenager if he keeps these eyelashes. Families members comment often. Props to Eliza Joy (on the left) and Jessica (on the right) for these amazing photos capturing what we’re astonished by every single day. Wow…

Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Lucia ranch – 5 grandkids to partake of the fun this time (although the youngest 2 weren’t as interested as the older 3!) Yummy munchies, fun gathering time, and then home for (you guessed it) some more photo opportunities!
I was pretty sure we were going to wait until Caeden was 6 months old to start solid foods, but he seemed to be telling us he was ready a few weeks before. First, a tooth popped… then he started staring at our food as we were eating… and then, to top it all off, he started making lip-smacking sounds. We got the hint and tried a few fingers of mushed banana on Friday April 10. What a hit!! Since then, we’ve introduced avocado (at the dr’s suggestion to fatten the kiddo up!), rice cereal, pears, and apples. We start some yummy veggies this week. He’s a big fan of all the fruits so far (not so much on the cereal, so we mix it with fruit), and gets so excited when it’s mealtime. The second tooth is on its way, as well, so a frozen food cube is a great treat inside those mesh feeders… best teething relief ever!
***This post was started May 5 and updated 5/17 – Since then, we’ve added more foods, the second tooth has popped, and Caeden is eating two “meals” a day of solid foods, in addition to his liquid diet =)
Caeden has shown increasing interest in Malie and Lucy these days, and sometimes they’re patient enough to sit through it… We got lucky tonight with the camera nearby…
We ventured out of Virginia for the first time with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop Lucia this past week-end to visit the two Great-Grandmas on the Lucia and Medon sides, as well as Great-Aunt Cathy and Great-Uncle Dave, a quick visit with Great-Aunts Sue, Barb, Great-Uncle Gary, and second cousin Julia on the Kelty side, and Great-Aunts Barb, Jeanne, and more second cousins on the Medon side. Phew! It was only a 36 hour trip in all (13 of it spent in a car, 7 sleeping at a very generous Mema and Grandad Hardy’s house), but boy did we cram it full! A few photos to share…
